The inaugural CIRCLE Teaching Academy Speaker Series took place on April 16th, 2019 with Dr. Judy Harackiewicz, Professor of Psychology, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She presented her talk entitled “Promoting Motivation for Underrepresented Groups in Undergraduate STEM Classes.” Dr. Harackiewicz described a utility value intervention her research team implemented in an Introductory Biology course, which showed the strongest effects for underrepresented, first-generation college students.
